  The Wednesday market in Cahors
Pont de Valentre over the River Lot in Cahors

With local markets six days of the week, there is always somewhere interesting to go to collect the day's provisions.

The hamlet of Rouffiac is just a five minute drive from the delightful and thriving village of Sauzet with all local facilities, including the best boulangerie in the area.

The nearest restaurant to Rouffiac is L'Auberge De La Tour in Sauzet.  It is very good, very reasonably priced and therefore very popular!  It is always advisable to book.  The Café de France in Montcuq comes highly recommended by the Gault Millau Guide.

Cahors has cafés and restaurants of every size and description, and we haven’t come across a bad one yet.  Try the Bistro De Gambetta, on the square right in the centre, for lunch.  And be there by noon if you want to be sure of a table.  For dinner, our advice would be to park on the east of the Pont de Louis Philippe, by the riverside, and stroll round the old quarters – on the eastern side of Cahors.  There are dozens of little restaurants there and there will always be a table somewhere.

The swimming lake at Montcuq
There are two delightful spots for swimming.  The river Lot at Castelfranc, ten minutes drive to the north and the Plan d’eau at Montcuq, ten minutes to the south.  There is a pebble beach by the side of the river and a beautiful sandy beach at the lake, ideal for children to build sand castles!
